Sansui 5050 steps before powering up

strange thing is that one 1445 tested good with a Chinese multitester (but weak hfe about 10), and through the multimeter diode tests. except that with further testing, noticed that from base to emitter, there was conductivity in both directions! plus, they were old and weak. remarkably easy and cheap to replace. just have to make certain to isolate the pins.
